neither encourages nor discourages the use of acronyms. It's not that we're
apathetic; we just observe that the use of too many or obscure acronyms in your message
will confuse people. Too much jargon and too many acronyms will reduce the number of
people who will seek help here. Obviously, this is the opposite of what we're about.
We've participated in other forums where the jargon and acronym ratio was high, and
frankly, even if you were familiar with the terms, the messages were hard to read.
There are some folks who think that the excessive use of jargon and acronyms shows that
they are knowledgeable. We know some of them, and some of them are knowledgeable
while others are just trying to appear knowledgeable. CompuClues does not charge by
the character. Feel free to fully express yourself, ahem, within bounds, in plain
English.
These acronyms are generally used as a shorthand by people who are unable to master the
simple task of typing. The time when it could be said that their use saved
appreciable bandwidth is long gone. CompuClues presents this list of acronyms because we
recognize that some will be used. This list will serve to keep them from being a
